Serbian fruit juice producer Nectar is interested in acquiring its Slovenian peer Fructal, Nectar CEO Bojan Radun told Danas daily. Fructal's owner Pivovarna Union offered for sale a 93.7% stake in Fructal last month for EUR 50mn. A total of 18 companies expressed interest in Fructal, including Eckes-Granini Group, Pago, Czech Kofola and Ljubljanske Mlekarne, as well as the municipality of Ajdovscina, where Fructal is headquartered, Danas also reported. None of the potential buyers have filed official bids yet, Radun said, adding that the Serbian company is yet to decide whether to bid. Fructal is Slovenia's top soft drinks producer. It has production plants in Slovenia and Macedonia and a distribution network in 18 countries around the world, from Canada and the U.S. to Switzerland, Italy, Belarus and Russia. Exports make up some 40% of the company's revenue and their share will probably reach 45% by the end of this year. Nectar is one of Serbia's leading fruit and vegetable processors based in Backa Palanka in the province of Vojvodina in the northern part of the country. |
