Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan’s combined IT exports surpass $800mn

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan’s combined IT exports surpassed $800mn in 2023.

The Kazakh IT sector's export revenue jumped from $50mn in 2020 to over $500mn last year. Astana Hub was a major contributor to the 10-fold growth. Exports from its residents amounted to $630.9mn over five years, including $315mn in 2023 alone. The hub's companies, accounting for around 60% of the Kazakh IT market, were responsible for $145.2mn of Kazakhstan's $247mn in IT exports in 1H23.

Kazakhstani IT companies export services to 86 countries, with the US, Russia and Ireland top buyers. In 2023, 205 companies hosted at Astana Hub exported products including software development, e-commerce, data science and game development items.

In Uzbekistan, IT Park residents' exports amounted to $344mn in 2023, marking a 2.4-fold increase from the previous year. By the end of 2023, IT Park hosted 1,652 resident companies, mainly serving customers in the US, UK, EU and CIS countries.

Kazakhstan's IT sector development includes initiatives such as partnerships with Google for Startups and Draper University.

Uzbekistan has promoted its IT sector through IT Park, using acceleration programs and the Silkroad Innovation Hub.
