Following the increase as of August 1, electricity prices will remain unchanged until July 2013, Mina business agency reported, citing information by the energy regulator (RAE) and thus refuted concerns about further price increases at the end of this or early next year. RAE pointed out that corrections in the level of revenues of power companies and of prices are done once a year, normally in July. Last week it was reported that Montenegro's energy regulator may raise the average price for electricity in Montenegro by 5% as of Aug 1, following the newly approved revenues for the period through Jul 2013. In order to cushion the effects from the price hike, the government plans to raise the existing discount for regular payers from current 5% to 10%. Even after the 5% increase, electricity prices in Montenegro will not exceed their 2009 level, the government said. |
