Czech unemployment remained at 4.3% in April (chart), the same level as in March. Year on year, the unemployment increased by 0.6 percentage point, or by 38,462 persons.
The April unemployment figures show that “despite the start of the seasonal jobs and the rise in available job postings, the gap widens between people who are looking for a job and are registered with the Labour Office, and workers, who companies are looking for available jobs,” commented Labour Office CEO Daniel Krištof in a press release.
He added that “according to our data, we observe that about one third of job applicants find new work relatively swiftly, within three months.”
Overall, there were 318,540 persons registered with the Labour Office at the end of April, and 95,798 job openings, an increase of 4,064 month on month.
The capital Prague and the eastern Bohemian Pardubice region registered the lowest unemployment level, while the northwest Bohemian Ústí region sat on the opposite end.
