Ukrainian communities will gain access to €100mn from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to restore social and critical infrastructure damaged by the war, reported Ukraine Business News.

The government approved a resolution to distribute the second tranche of EIB financing under the Ukraine Recovery Programme III, which totals €250mn. The first €100mn tranche was ratified in August 2023. For the first time, the new funds will be provided under guarantees from the European Union’s Ukraine Facility financial instrument.

According to the Cabinet statement, the money will be directed towards rebuilding schools, kindergartens, hospitals, medical facilities, and housing and communal infrastructure in war-affected regions.

In a related decision, the government allocated over UAH730mn ($17mn) to finalise reconstruction projects in the Kyiv region. The funding, sourced from the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Russian Aggression, will be distributed to the Kyiv Regional Administration and the Bucha and Irpin communities.

The allocation will allow the completion of 30 major reconstruction projects, including 21 residential buildings, six educational institutions, two civil defence facilities, and one healthcare centre.
