Israel's air force conducted strikes on missile and UAV sites across multiple Iranian cities on June 22, including Isfahan, Bushehr, Ahvaz, and, for the first time, Yazd.
"Earlier today, with guidance from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, approximately 30 IAF fighter jets struck dozens of military targets throughout Iran with over 60 munitions," the IDF confirmed in a public statement via Telegram.
The strikes targeted the "Imam Hussein" Strategic Missile Command Centre in Yazd, where long-range Khorramshahr missiles were stored. According to the IDF, approximately 60 missiles had been launched from this facility toward Israel.
"We destroyed Khorramshahr missiles before they were launched at Israel and struck tunnels used to store the missiles," Israeli Air Force Commander Tomer Bar announced.
The Yazd strikes occurred at a distance of 2,200 km, representing the furthest target Israel has hit to date, the IDF claimed. Additional strikes hit missile launchers in Isfahan, Bushehr, and Ahvaz, alongside military sites involved in aerial defence battery production and UAV command facilities.
The Israeli operation followed two Iranian missile barrages launched on the evening of June 21 and the morning of June 22. During these attacks, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reportedly deployed its multi-warhead Kheibar Shekan ballistic missile for the first time. Israel's Ministry of Health confirmed that 86 people were treated for injuries at various hospitals during the Iranian strikes.
On June 21, Israel conducted another significant strike wave targeting military infrastructure in the southwestern Iranian cities of Ahvaz and Mahshahr, as well as a nuclear research facility in Isfahan.
Meanwhile, the scope of the ongoing war has broadened with the involvement of the US. The US attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22 in what President Donald Trump described as a mission that "completely and fully obliterated" key nuclear sites.
