The Damascus regime should fully cooperate with the new international mediator Kofi Annan for his good offices mission towards ending violence and finding a peaceful solution to the crisis, and Turkey is ready to provide all possible assistance and support to Annan, the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement. On a related note, foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who attended the meeting of the Friends of Syria group, said the international community should recognise the opposition Syrian National Council as the legitimate representative. The second meeting of the Friends of Syria group is expected to take place in Turkey next month.
