Kazakhstan’s annual inflation rate rose to 11.8% in June, up from 11.3% in May, according to latest figures released by the National Statistics Bureau.

Monthly inflation eased slightly to 0.8%, compared to 0.9% in May.

In year-on-year terms, food prices increased 10.6% in June, up from 9.6% in May. Non-food inflation also accelerated, reaching 9.4% compared to 9% the previous month. Service prices showed the steepest rise, climbing 16.1% after recording a 16% increase in May.

Price hikes in utility services continued to weigh heavily on households. Water supply tariffs surged 96.3% year-on-year, while waste-water disposal costs rose 34.6%. Other significant increases were recorded in central heating (19.2%), gas supply (15.5%), hot water (15.1%), electricity (12.5%) and housing maintenance (12.7%).

The food sector also saw notable increases, particularly for fruit and vegetables, which jumped 20.7% annually. Prices for oils and fats rose 17.9%, while nonalcoholic beverages and meat products increased by 11.9% and 11.3%, respectively.

The government has been under pressure to manage inflation, which has remained in double digits throughout 2025, driven by higher utility tariffs, currency volatility and supply chain disruptions. In response, Kazakhstan’s central bank has kept its base interest rate elevated to curb inflationary pressures.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of National Economy has stated that inflation control remains a priority for fiscal and monetary policy coordination in the second half of the year.
