Kazakhstan plans to acquire transportation assets in Europe.

Kazakhstan plans to acquire transportation assets in Europe, Askar Mamin, president of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (national railway carrier) has stated. He also declared that the country would be interested in building terminals at strategic locations in Europe and China. Mamin also informed that investments in railway infrastructure are expected to reach USD 40bn by 2020 and the capacity of the railway junction at the border with China will be doubled to 50mn tons per annum. Significantly, Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev in his recent statement at the Council of Foreign Investors urged investors to help in development of the New Silk Road, which consists new railway tracks and roads.
