Kazakhstan harvests 24.1mn tones of grain as of Oct 10.

Kazakhstan harvested 24.1mn tones of grain as of Oct 10 on 14.6mn ha or 90.2% of the total area to be harvested. The average yield from was 1.65 tones from 1 ha, the Agriculture Ministry has said. On the same date of previous year, the country harvested 13.556mn tones on 15.338mn ha with the average yield of 0.88 tones form 1 ha. The Agriculture Ministry expects grain harvest to reach 25mn tones this year, up from 12.2mn tones last year. In 2010, harvest was much lower due to drought.
