Bulgaria, WB launch new partnership strategy until 2013.

In line with earlier information, the board of executive directors of the WB endorsed a new country partnership strategy for Bulgaria with respect to the WBs support to the country in the period 2011-2013, the WB said on its website. The WB will provide knowledge and advisory services mainly but also selective lending to projects not eligible for support under the EU funds and international financial institutions. The partnership with the WB will be related mostly to the priorities outlined in the National Reform Programme of the government, namely: better infrastructure, best business environment in the EU, higher confidence in state institutions, and efficient utilisation of EU funds. The support will be focused on knowledge and advisory services for roads and water infrastructure; improving the business regulatory environment; strengthening public administration and public finance; boosting the national green growth agenda, including energy efficiency; as well as support to the railway, to education and to social inclusion of vulnerable groups, especially Roma. Also, the WB will provide three development policy loans in the amount of EUR 80mn each to support the railway reforms and to ensure that the financing for the sector is in line with transport demand, EU transport policies and countrys prudent fiscal policy. It will grant a EUR 70mn investment loan as well to the National Railway Infrastructure Company for infrastructure maintenance equipment to improve the quality and efficiency of the railway infrastructure in the country.
