August inflation in Uzbekistan 0.5% m/m and 9% y/y

Uzbekistan’s headline inflation in August rose slightly to 8.96% y/y, while monthly inflation was 0.54% m/m as a two-month-long deflationary trend came to an end.

Inflation in the year to date (YTD) measured 3.84%, the lowest figure recorded in five years. On average, prices grew by 0.5% per month.The gasoline price in August rose by 4.2%.

Food inflation in the eighth month amounted to 0.6%, meaning food prices were up by 3.7% YTD and by 10.6% in the past 12 months.

In food product categories for August, the strongest price increase was logged for vegetables. They grew 3.7%. Dairy product and egg prices moved up 1.9%.

Manufactured goods in August became 0.4% more expensive, taking the YTD increase to 7.3%.
