Kuwait and Bahrain have confirmed they were targeted by Iranian missiles and drones, with a residential building damaged in Bahrain, after Iran struck back at US bases in the two Gulf states in retaliation for American strikes on Iranian territory, the two countries' authorities said on June 28.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had carried out the strikes against Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for the US attacks on Iranian territory, warning that any further aggression would meet a crushing response. US forces had bombed Iran on June 27 for a second consecutive day, in what was said to be retaliation for an Iranian attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

Air-raid sirens sounded in Bahrain after the latest US strikes on Iran.

Kuwait's army said its air defences were countering hostile missile and drone attacks, urging everyone to follow safety instructions issued by the authorities.

Kuwait's foreign ministry condemned the repeated Iranian attacks, the latest at dawn, saying their continuation at a time of regional and international de-escalation efforts undermined those efforts and directly challenged international will.

The army later said it had intercepted two ballistic missiles without damage or casualties.

Bahrain's interior ministry said air-raid sirens had sounded twice and residents had been asked to stay calm and move to the nearest safe place.

The foreign ministry condemned the renewed Iranian strikes, saying Iran had again targeted Bahrain with a number of ballistic missiles and drones, and that Tehran's actions were not isolated or accidental but part of a deliberate and systematic pattern of repeated aggression against Bahraini sovereignty.

Bahrain's army said it had intercepted and destroyed a number of the projectiles and was at full readiness. The interior ministry said a residential building in Muharraq governorate had been damaged, but that the attack caused no casualties.
