Russia's foreign ministry has told its citizens in Jordan to take precautions, avoid long-distance travel and stay indoors during air raid alerts, in an advisory, Emerging Travel reported on July 18.

The advisory formalises what the past week has made plain: Jordan, a US ally that had stayed on the margins of the war, is now inside it, and foreign governments are beginning to treat the kingdom as an active-risk country, with consequences for its aviation links and its tourism-dependent economy.

"In connection with tensions in the region that have spread to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, we call on Russian citizens in the country to observe due precautions," the ministry said. It advised Russians to monitor official announcements, keep mobile phones charged, and register with the consular section of the embassy in Amman by email, providing names, passport details and family composition. The ministry stopped short of advising departure.

Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks on Jordan on July 17 killed two US service members, with one more missing in action, US Central Command said, the first American deaths from Iranian fire since March.

Four service members were medically evacuated and later discharged. Reports identified the target as Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, which hosts US troops and fighter aircraft, and the deaths brought total American fatalities in the war to 16.

Jordan's General Staff said its forces intercepted 10 Iranian missiles, and the kingdom's airspace closed repeatedly during the exchanges. CENTCOM launched retaliatory strikes on Iranian targets within a day, saying they were designed to punish the IRGC units behind the attack.
