EU affairs minister Bagis: Northern Cyprus could be annexed to Turkey.

By bne IntelliNews March 5, 2012
Turkey may consider annexing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus if reunification talks between the leaders of Turkish and Greek Cypriot communities fail, EU affairs minister Egemen Bagis said. A reunification deal could be reached or two independent states could be created or if the leaders fail to reach a deal for reunification the annexation of Northern Cyprus might be considered, these are all the options on the table, Bagis explained. Last year UN revived reunification talks but Greek Cypriot leader Dimitis Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu have made only a little progress.
