Israel has begun striking Iranian regime targets in central Tehran for the first time, with the IDF confirming that 40 Iranian commanders were eliminated in the operation's opening phase.

The strikes follow an Iranian missile barrage on Israel launched on the morning of March 1, with alerts sounding across Jerusalem and central and southern regions.

The IDF confirmed that approximately 100 ballistic missiles were fired at Israel from Iran, most of which were intercepted. One Israeli woman in her 40s was killed, while 25 were injured from the missile barrages. Several direct hits on buildings were confirmed by Israel Police, with rescue teams working in Tel Aviv to locate injured residents and clear rubble.

"We have good achievements, and many more goals ahead of us. In the opening blow of the operation, the IDF eliminated 40 commanders and senior figures from the Iranian regime in one minute; we are creating the conditions for the overthrow of the regime," IDF Spokesman Efi Defrin announced in a press statement.

Among those eliminated was Abdolrahim Mousavi, who served as Chief of Staff of Iran's armed forces, the IDF confirmed in a separate statement. The military released footage of the Tehran strikes, captioned: "Attached is footage of the strike on the headquarters of the Iranian terror regime in Tehran a few minutes ago."

The IDF released a video of their strike on the headquarters of the Iranian regime in Tehran.

In addition, several videos were circulated on social media displaying missile damage in Tehran.
