The Istanbul 8th Criminal (sulh ceza) Court of Peace has blocked access to the latest X social media account (@CAOIletisim11) used by Ekrem Imamoglu’s presidential campaign office, the EngelliWeb initiative (@engelliweb), a project of Turkey’s Freedom of Expression Association, reported on August 3.
On August 4, the office launched a new account (@CA_iletisim).
The ruling against the jailed challenger to Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and elected mayor of Istanbul was the eighth ban introduced against various X accounts used by Imamoglu. It was, as usual, issued under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order.

Ruling: X's Global Government Affairs team (@GlobalAffairs) on August 5 shared the Istanbul 8th Criminal Court of Peace's ruling.
On July 16, Imamoglu’s YouTube channel (@ekremimamoglu) and his presidential campaign office's X account (@CAOIletisim1) were blocked. Following the ruling, the X account's name was changed to CAOIletisim11.
