Romania’s national postal operator Poșta Română has signed a partnership with Chinese e-commerce platform Temu to provide integrated parcel delivery services, including collection from Romanian merchants, sorting at logistics centres and last-mile delivery.

The partnership could strengthen Romania’s position as a logistics gateway for Central and Eastern Europe while giving Romanian merchants selling through Temu access to a wider European delivery network. The companies said their cooperation would use Poșta Română’s existing national infrastructure to support both domestic and cross-border deliveries.

“Based on the agreement, Poșta Română will provide an integrated parcel delivery service, which will include picking up parcels from merchants, sorting in logistics centres in Romania and last-mile delivery,” the postal operator said in a statement.

Delivery options will include home delivery, pickup points, automated lockers and post offices across Romania.

The arrangement is intended to simplify order processing for local companies selling on Temu and improve delivery options for their customers.

“The modern network of regional hubs consolidates Romania’s role as a gateway for parcels and goods entering and exiting Central and Eastern Europe,” according to a joint statement cited by Curs de Guvernare.

Poșta Română and Temu will organise joint events aimed at helping Romanian companies selling through the platform expand into additional European markets. The companies will also hold regular meetings to assess the partnership and adjust delivery services.

Temu, which connects consumers with manufacturers, brands and trading partners, operates in more than 90 markets globally. The platform is part of Chinese e-commerce group PDD Holdings.

Poșta Română, which has operated for 164 years, has a nationwide network and capacity to process more than 500,000 parcels per day. The partnership adds Temu to the operator’s growing role in handling e-commerce shipments entering and leaving Romania.
