UAE-based Emirates Airlines is set to add four weekly services between Dubai and Accra from July 12, a new report by regional media noted.

The new options take its growing Ghana operation to 11 flights a week, the airline said, as it continues to rebuild capacity. The expansion comes after weeks of turmoil for the airline following attacks on its airhub in Dubai by Iranian drones and ricocheting defence batteries hitting the runway on the back of dropping visitor numbers to the city.

The new service, according to Emerging Travelwill operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.  The flights will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, offering eight First Class suites, 42 lie-flat Business Class seats and 304 Economy seats.

The upgraded service is timed to connect Accra travellers to hubs including Beijing, Seoul, Sydney, Perth, Mumbai, Singapore, New York JFK and Jeddah, and to give passengers from points such as Delhi, Boston, Los Angeles and gateways across Germany and the UK a more convenient connection to Accra via Dubai.

"For more than two decades, Emirates has proudly connected Ghana to the world," said Salem Almana, the airline's country manager for Ghana. "The introduction of this additional service demonstrates our continued confidence in the Ghanaian market and our commitment to supporting the country's growing travel needs."

The additional flights will also support cargo movements through Emirates SkyCargo, which is a growing part of the airline's business.
