The production of motor vehicles in the Czech Republic rose by 11.7% on the year to 916,415 units in the first nine months of 2011, data from the Automotive Industry Association showed. Passenger cars accounted for 98% of the total. A total of 895,728 cars were produced in the country in January to September, up 11.4% y/y mainly due to higher output of Skoda and Hyundai's plant in Nosovice. Skoda Auto kept its position as the largest Czech car maker with an output of 502,513 cars, by 21.5% more than a year ago. Hyundai Motor Czech assembled 174,687 cars, up 21.4% y/y. Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile Czech (TPCA), jointly owned by Toyota and Peugeot Citroen, registered an annual output drop of 11% to 218,525 units. Lorry production in the Czech Republic decreased by 1.1% y/y to 924 units, while bus production jumped by a third to 2,421. Jawa Tynec, the only large Czech motorcycle producer, boosted its nine-month production by 117% y/y to 1,034 motorcycles. |
