Bosnias Federation Q1 tourist arrivals up 14.4% y/y.

The number of tourists who visited Bosnias Federation in the first three months of 2012 rose 14.4% on the year to 74,928, the Federations statistics office said. Tourists spent 143,745 overnights in the Federation in Jan-March, up by 21.3% on the year, the office said in a statement. The Federation makes up Bosnia and Herzegovina together with the Serb Republic. The number of domestic tourist in the Federation rose by an annual 23.5% to 35,166 over the period, while the number of foreign tourists climbed 7.3% to 39,762. Foreign tourists spent 80,383 overnights in the Federation in the first three months of the current year, up by 12% in comparison with a year earlier. Domestic tourists overnights over the period rose 35.4% to 63,362. In March alone, the number of domestic tourists visiting the Federation jumped 43% to 15,787, while the number of foreign ones increased an annual 19% to 18,854. Most tourists in the first three months came from Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey, Italy, Germany and Austria. The Federations accommodation capacities, measured in terms of bed numbers, fell by 15% on the year to 13,989 in March when their gross utilisation rate was 14.6%. In February, the accommodation capacities fell by 19.6% on the year to 14,779 and their gross utilisation rate was 10%.
