A 12-year-old British rape victim was left petrified after one of her attackers threatened to abduct her in a black BMW and rape her again, a British court heard on January 30.

This latest case has intensified debate over asylum policy in Britain, where crimes committed by asylum seekers have fuelled growing public opposition to immigration and Channel crossings.

Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, an Afghan asylum seeker, has pleaded guilty to a charge of oral rape of the 12-year-old at Warwick Crown Court.

He denies child abduction, two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and taking indecent photographs of a child.

Mohammad Kabir, 24, also an Afghan asylum seeker, denies intentional strangulation, committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence and attempting to take a child.

Prosecutors allege the complainant was strangled by Kabir in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, on July 22, 2025, and was then raped and sexually assaulted by Mulakhil in his car.

A witness who cannot be named for legal reasons told the court the girl said her attacker "wanted to get her in a black BMW and he was going to take her to Birmingham and London and rape her again".

Asked by British prosecutor Daniel Oscroft how the girl had seemed, the witness said: "She said 'something happened to me'.

I asked her if she was hurt and she said, 'he raped me'. She was saying that her back was hurting because they ragged her around."

The witness said the girl was very scared and said, "he's coming for me", knowing he was still in the park across the road. The court heard one of the men said he was called "Loki" and wanted to meet her in the park at 9pm the following day.

A further witness said: "You could see she was petrified, frantic and she was crying. She was looking over her shoulder. She was, like, mumbling to herself."

The court heard Kabir allegedly strangled the girl, who had been playing in a park, at about 6pm. She was then seen talking to Mulakhil at about 8pm, when she is said to have claimed to be aged 19.

Prosecutor Oscroft told the jury: "This case concerns two men who both targeted a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton. Mohammad Kabir did so by trying to get her to come with him and also grabbing her by the neck, strangling her. The prosecution suggests that Mohammad Kabir, when he tried to take her away, can only have had some sexual purpose."

"While she didn't go with Mr Kabir, the other person there, Ahmad Mulakhil, remained in the area for the next few hours and later met her. He talked to her and led her away to a secluded cul-de-sac, Cheverel Place, where he raped her, sexually assaulted her and took indecent images of her."

Both men are of no fixed abode. The trial continues.

Police faced criticism for initially withholding the defendants' immigration status, with Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and local officials accusing authorities of a cover-up reminiscent of historical grooming gang scandals where crimes were concealed due to perpetrators' backgrounds.

The incident sparked protests outside Nuneaton Town Hall in August, with demonstrators chanting "Stop the boats" and "We want our country back", whilst counter-protesters from Stand Up to Racism held signs reading "stop the far right".

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has since called for more transparency from police forces regarding the immigration status of accused individuals, asking the Law Commission to accelerate its review of what information can be released when trials are pending.
