The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan expanded by 23.3% y/y to $34.9bn in 7M23, according to the Uzbek Statistics Agency.
China was Uzbekistan’s top trade partner (turnover of $6.9bn, accounting for 19.7% of trade volume), Russia was second ($5.3bn, accounting for 15.1% of trade volume) and Kazakhstan was third ($2.49bn, accounting for 7.1% of trade volume).
Offering more detail on trade with Kazakhstan, the statistics agency said that in the seven months Uzbekistan exported goods worth $807.7mn to its Central Asian neighbour, while imports from Kazakhstan amounted to $1.68bn.
In full-year 2022, bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached $5bn.
