Romania bank deposit up by 7.2% y/y at end-Jul. The stock of deposits of households, companies and government at Romanian banks increased by 7.2% y/y (7.4% y/y in euros) to RON 204.57bn (EUR 48.24bn), according to the central bank data. The stock of bank deposits thus increased by EUR 3.33bn over the past 12 months ending in July, compared to only EUR 2.15bn expansion of the stock of bank lending. The households savings advanced robustly by 6.6% y/y (6.8% y/y in euros) and account for slightly more than half of the total bank loans.
