Flights at Iran's Qeshm International Airport are set to resume on August 19 after a suspension caused by the ongoing conflict, marking a partial return of civil aviation to the Persian Gulf island.
The airport's manager, Mohammad Tavakoli, said the reopening day's schedule comprised a Qeshm-Tehran flight at 07:20, Qeshm-Isfahan at 10:10, Isfahan-Qeshm at 12:30 and a further Qeshm-Tehran service at 14:50, all operated by carrier Qeshm Air, Fars reported.
Tavakoli said restoring the flights would reactivate the island's air links to major domestic centres and lay the ground for a gradual return of air traffic and of related economic, travel and tourism activity.
Qeshm, a free-trade zone and tourism destination in the Strait of Hormuz, is one of several Iranian island and mainland airports whose operations were disrupted by the war with a US-Israeli coalition.
Flights at nearby Kish Island resumed earlier in the summer after a four-month suspension, and civil aviation across southern Iran has been repeatedly halted by airspace closures and security conditions since the conflict began on February 28.
