Ukraine stops publishing Russian missile-attack data as interceptor shortage bites

North Korea fired at least one ballistic missile eastward early on August 12, which is believed to have fallen outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, Japan’s Defence Ministry said.
According to Kyodo News, the missile was launched at about 5:59am from an area near North Korea’s eastern coast. It travelled approximately 690km and reached a maximum altitude of about 90km, the ministry said. No damage or injuries have been reported.
Japan, the US and South Korea are closely coordinating to analyse the details, the ministry added.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi instructed relevant government agencies to make every effort to gather and analyse information, provide the public with accurate updates and ensure the safety of aircraft and vessels.
Japan’s Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi condemned the launch and said Japan had lodged a strong protest with Pyongyang. He said North Korea’s ballistic missile launches violate UN Security Council resolutions and pose a threat to the peace and security of Japan, the region and the international community.
North Korea also fired at least one ballistic missile on August 6, with no projectile believed to have fallen within Japan’s EEZ, the Defence Ministry said at the time.
