Knauf Bulgaria, the local unit of Austrian construction materials producer Knauf, received a first class investment certificate for its project to build a gypsum plasters plant, the economy ministry says on its website. The investment value is estimated at BGN 32mn (EUR 16.4mn). The facility will be located near the village of Mednikarovo in southern Bulgaria. The new plant will have annual production capacity of 110,000 tons and will use residual products from the sulphur purification installations of the coal-fired power plants in the Maritsa East complex. The project will open 30 permanent jobs. In the middle of 2010, Knauf launched production at its EUR 62mn gypsum drywall manufacturing plant in Mednikarovo. Knauf operates another gypsum plant in the north-western town of Vidin.
