Those complaining about the cost of living in Britain should visit Antalya Airport in Turkey, Lord Ranger (@LordRamiRanger) wrote in a tweet.
Even a simple burger there feels like a luxury, he added.
Lord Ranger's full title is The Lord Ranger. His name is Raminder Singh Ranger and he is a current member of the House of Lords. A British India-born businessman, the 78-year-old is also a Conservative Party politician and a Lord Temporal.
Ranger was made a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 2016 for services to business and community cohesion. He was nominated for a life peerage in ex-British PM Theresa May's resignation honours in 2019.
In December 2024, he was stripped of his CBE by the Honours Forfeiture Committee for harassing a journalist on social media.

“Our prices reached Swiss standards, but we could not reach Bangladeshi standards,” a Turkish X user replied to the tweet of The Right Honourable The Lord Ranger.
“I don’t think it’s a simple burger only right, what about the 50cl beer and the fries?” another Turk, obviously a patriot, wrote in defence of his country in the face of the Lord’s accusations.
“Airport prices are inflated everywhere. Comparing them to the cost of living in the UK is misleading. Please don’t use my country for political point-scoring!” another patriotic Turk wrote.
“In the Istanbul Airport, I paid 4600 Turkish lira for 8 pieces of chicken meat and a sandwich... equivalent to €100,” came another response.
More services to business. More services to community cohesion. Restore that man’s CBE now.
