Vietnam Airlines has announced widespread adjustments to its domestic schedule as Typhoon Kajiki, the fifth storm to sweep across the East Sea this year, disrupts operations at several central airports, Viet Nam News reports.

Flights in and out of Huế were the first to be affected. All services at Phú Bài Airport on Sunday, August 24, were cancelled, including flights linking the city with both Hà Nội (VN1549, VN1548, VN7067, VN7066, VN7545, VN7544) and Hồ Chí Minh City (VN1378, VN1379). Further north, Đồng Hới Airport in Quảng Trị Province will see cancellations on August 25, affecting routes to Hồ Chí Minh City (VN1404, VN1405) and Hà Nội (VN1591, VN1590).

In Thanh Hóa Province, services at Thọ Xuân Airport to and from Hồ Chí Minh City are also suspended on August 25. The cancellations cover a wide range of flights, including VN1273, VN1272, VN7270, VN7271, VN1276, VN1277, VN7276, VN7275, VN7079, VN7078, VN1278 and VN1279.

The airline has warned that knock-on effects may also disrupt other domestic and international flights on August 25 as adverse weather continues.

Vietnam Airlines has also advised travellers to allow extra time for their journey to airports, with road transport expected to be impacted by the storm.
