Hamas has denied reports claiming the group agreed to gradually hand over its weapons under international supervision, describing the claims as baseless and false, Nameh News reported on October 5.
The Islamic Resistance Movement said some news websites and media outlets had published claims attributed to a Hamas source in an interview with Al Hadath network, stating that the movement had agreed to the gradual handover of its weapons under international supervision.
"We stress that official statements and announcements are published through the official Hamas website and its official Telegram channel, and we invite media outlets to verify the official Hamas website carefully," the movement said.
Al Arabiya/Al Hadath had earlier claimed that Hamas agreed to hand over weapons to a Palestinian-Egyptian entity with international supervision.
The denial comes amid ongoing discussions about the future of the Gaza Strip following the conflict. Hamas has consistently rejected any proposals that would involve its disarmament, maintaining that armed resistance remains a legitimate right under international law.
The group called on media organisations to verify information through official channels before publishing reports attributed to Hamas sources.
The report comes as the Jerusalem Post claimed, citing Saudi Al Arabiya, that the group was collecting the remains of dead Israeli hostages for the potential upcoming handovers under the Trump-agreed plan.
“The source explained that the return of remains may take some time, but that the handover of living hostages would occur in a single phase,” JP reported.
The group also reportedly requested, through Cairo, that the IDF cease airstrikes on Gaza so that the group can hand over the hostages as demanded by the White House.
Earlier, Al Arabiya reported that the source said that "swift and intensive" negotiations are "in the movement's interest."
