The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the return of seven living Israeli hostages from Hamas custody via the International Committee of the Red Cross on the morning of October 13. The released hostages are Matan Angrest, Alon Ohel, Eitan Mor, brothers Gali and Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, and Guy Gilboa-Dalal.
Two additional hostage transfers are scheduled for later in the day, according to the Israeli military, with exchanges expected to occur at three locations: Gaza City, central Gaza, and Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.
The IDF is conducting medical and psychological evaluations of the first seven hostages, with The Jerusalem Post reporting that no emergency evacuations have been required thus far.
Stable hostages are being transferred from Red Cross custody to IDF special forces, then to Re'im base near the Gaza border, before being transported to three hospitals: Sheba, Ichilov, and Beilinson.
Those requiring immediate medical attention will be airlifted to Soroka Medical Centre in Be’er Sheva or Barzilai Medical Centre in Ashkelon.
The IDF expects the bodies of deceased hostages to be returned on October 13 as well, though specific numbers remain uncertain. Hamas is required to assist a joint mechanism established under the Trump ceasefire agreement to help locate other deceased hostages.
As part of the exchange, the ICRC will transfer approximately 2,000 Palestinian security prisoners from Israeli prisons to the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and countries including Qatar and Turkey.
US President Donald Trump arrived in Israel at approximately 9:43 a.m. local time on Air Force One, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog greeting him on the tarmac.
Trump is scheduled to spend about four hours in Israel, during which he will address the Knesset, becoming the first American president to do so, N12 reported.
"This could be the biggest thing I've ever been involved in," Trump said in a telephone interview with Channel 12 from Air Force One. Trump attributed the success of the Gaza agreement to his recent strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, stating: "The Iranians were weeks away from a nuclear weapon - and that was like a black cloud over everything."
Trump suggested the strike enabled Arab and Muslim countries to unite around the Gaza agreement and made Hamas more willing to compromise following the weakening of its Iranian allies. Following his Israel visit, Trump is scheduled to travel to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, for an international leaders' summit supporting his peace plan.
