Spot.uz has compiled a list of various foreign companies from near and far that arrived on Uzbekistan’s market in 2023.
Russian marketplace Ozon launched sales of goods in Uzbekistan in November. Twenty goods categories are available, ranging from books and clothing to food. From 2024, the marketplace will begin developing its own logistics infrastructure, creating warehouses and a delivery service.
Sportmaster
Russian retailer Sportmaster entered the Uzbek market by opening its first store in the Family Park shopping and entertainment centre in Samarkand, a 1,100-square-metre sportswear and accessories outlet. In April, the company signed an agreement to open an outlet in the future Tashkent City Mall.
Costa Coffee
In July, the British coffee chain Costa Coffee opened its first outlet in Tashkent. The international brand was brought to the local market by Best Coffee Chain, the official franchisee of Costa Coffee in Uzbekistan.
Uklon
Ukrainian taxi service Uklon has launched in Uzbekistan with two ride-hailing applications, namely Uklon App for passengers and Uklon Driver App for drivers.
Yandex Eats
The Yandex Eats ready-to-eat and other goods delivery service has been launched in Tashkent. Uzbekistan became its fifth country of operations after Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia. At launch, more than 250 restaurants in the capital were available in the service.
OpenAI
The ChatGPT neural network from OpenAI has opened registration for users from Uzbekistan.
The electronic and audiobook service Litres has launched an Uzbek-language version of the website, litres.uz . The Litres Group has signed contracts with 13 national publishing houses in Uzbekistan including Asaxiy Books, Sharq, Adabiyot and Yangi Asr Avlodi.
Medipol
Turkish medical group Medipol has opened a representative office in Tashkent. Medipol plans to cooperate with the health ministry, private hospitals and local universities. It also intends to open a hospital in the republic.
Dyninno
San Francisco-founded technology conglomerate Dyninno Group has opened a Tashkent office. The company came to Uzbekistan because of its rapidly developing economy and high level of education, said Yevgeny Senderov, head of Dyninno. Dyninno Uzbekistan is to run the activities of the group's tourism business. The company, founded in 2004, develops IT solutions for the financial industry, entertainment, travel and tourism.
Assault
Russian company Assault’s Uzbekistan assortment includes machine tools, welding and construction equipment, power units, pumps, equipment for cottages, and electric and hand tools.
Russia’s Greenwise has started supplying meat alternative products to the Uzbek market. Greenwise is Russia's first developer and manufacturer of plant-based alternatives to meat, fish and dairy products. It makes a large range of alfuda products.
