A Raimon Airways passenger aircraft ran off the runway while landing at Shiraz International Airport, Rokna reported on July 27.

The aircraft, operating flight 7552, was an Embraer ERJ 145, Rokna reported. No details have been released on the cause of the excursion, the extent of any damage, or possible injuries to passengers or crew.

The incident involves one of only a handful of aircraft flown by a young carrier operating in a sector under strain from decades of sanctions. The Tehran Mehrabad-based airline is one of a cluster of small domestic operators that have launched in Iran in recent years, flying regional jets on internal routes as restrictions limit access to new aircraft and parts. A European airspace ban keeps Iranian carriers off routes to the EU, concentrating the country's fleet on domestic and near-regional flying.

Raimon Airways began operations in 2024 with three Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft. Flight-tracking services listed two in service as of 2025.

Iranian airlines have long operated ageing fleets, with many carriers unable to buy new Western aircraft or source spare parts because of US sanctions. A landmark deal for Iran Air to acquire Airbus and Boeing jets, agreed after the 2015 nuclear accord, largely collapsed when Washington reimposed sanctions in 2018, leaving the sector reliant on older airframes and second-hand acquisitions.

Runway excursions, in which an aircraft leaves the paved surface during take-off or landing, are among the most common types of aviation incident worldwide and are frequently survivable. Contributing factors can include weather, runway conditions, aircraft speed and braking.

Shiraz International Airport, formally Shiraz Shahid Dastgheib International Airport, is the main airport of Fars province and the largest in southern Iran. It serves domestic and regional carriers, and acts as a hub for several Iranian operators.
