Saudi Aramco has announced a series of major oil and gas discoveries, supporting Saudi Arabia's dominance in the energy sector. These discoveries, made in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter, include six oilfields, two oil reservoirs, two natural gas fields and four natural gas reservoirs, underscoring the vast hydrocarbon potential of the Kingdom.

Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman revealed the findings through the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Among the notable discoveries is the Jabu oilfield in the Eastern Province, which yielded very light Arab crude oil at a rate of 800 barrels per day from well Jabu-1. The Sayahid field produced very light crude from well Sayahid-2 at a rate of 630 bpd, while well Ayfan-2 in the Ayfan field generated 2,840 bpd of very light crude and approximately 0.44mn cubic feet (12,500 cubic metres) per day of gas.

Further exploration led to the identification of the Jubaila reservoir in the Berri field, producing light crude from well Berri-907 at a rate of 520 bpd, along with 0.2 mmcf (566 cubic metres) per day of gas. The Unayzah-A reservoir in the Mazalij field yielded premium light crude from well Mazalij-64 at 1,011 bpd, coupled with 0.92 mmcf (26,000 cubic metres) per day of gas.

In the Empty Quarter, the Nuwayr field produced medium Arabian crude at a rate of 1,800 bpd from well Nuwayr-1, along with 0.55 mmcf (16,000 cubic metres) per day of gas. The Damdah field showed medium crude flow from the Mishrif-C reservoir at 200 bpd, and very light crude from the Mishrif-D reservoir at 115 bpd. The Qurqas field produced medium crude at 210 bpd from well Qurqas-1.

On the natural gas front, significant discoveries were made in the Eastern Province. The Unayzah B/C reservoir of the Ghizlan field produced 32 mmcf (0.9 mn cubic metres) per day of gas and 2,525 bpd of condensate from well Ghizlan-1. Meanwhile, well Araam-1 in the Araam field generated 24 mmcf (0.68 mcm) per day of gas along with 3,000 bpd of condensate. In the Qusaiba reservoir of the Mihwaz field, well Mihwaz-193101 yielded 3.5 mmcf (9,900 cubic metres) per day of gas and 485 bpd of condensate.

In the Empty Quarter, the Marzouq field demonstrated significant natural gas flows, producing 9.5 mmcf (0.269 mcm) per day from the Arab-C reservoir and 10 mmcf (0.28 mcm) from the Arab-D reservoir. Additionally, the Upper Jubaila reservoir yielded 1.5 mmcf (42,000 cubic metres) per day of gas from the same well.

Prince Abdulaziz emphasised the significance of these discoveries, noting their contribution to solidifying Saudi Arabia's leadership in the global energy sector and enhancing the Kingdom's hydrocarbon potential. He said these finds are poised to drive economic growth, strengthen Saudi Arabia’s ability to meet both domestic and international energy demand efficiently, and support the country’s long-term sustainability goals.
