Tourism surge pushes up Uzbekistan's services exports to $4bn in 2022

Uzbekistan exported services worth $3.95bn last year, according to official statistics.

Revenue from the export of services increased by 53.4% y/y. The share of services in the country's total foreign trade turnover exceeded 20%.

Tourism made the main contribution to the growth of service sector exports. Last year, tourist services brought in around an additional $1.2bn, expanding almost fourfold from $422.1mn to $1.6bn.

Income from tourism almost equalled that of the main services export item, namely transport services, which generated $1.75bn, up 1.5%. The share of transport services in overall services exports decreased by more than a third from 67.8% to 44.3%.
