Kazakhstan launches construction of third unit at Ekibastuz-2 power plant.

Kazakhstan launched construction of third unit at Ekibastuz-2 power plant. The capacity of the new unit is 500MW. The cost of the project is USD 770mn and the funds are provided on equal basis by Russian Vneshekonombank, Kazakh Halyk Bank and Eurasian Development Bank. Credits are provided for 15 years. To remind you, Ekibastuz-2 has a generating capacity of 1000MW. The plant is owned on parity basis by Russian RAO UES and national welfare fund SamrukKazyna. Ekibastuz-2 accounts for around 12% of the all electricity produced in Kazakhstan.
