Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has described Indonesia as one of Belarus' most important partners in Southeast Asia following bilateral talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Antara writes.

Speaking after their meeting at the Merdeka Palace on July 2, Lukashenko said Indonesia would remain a key partner for Belarus in the region. He said even a single strong partner in Southeast Asia would be of significant value to Belarus.

Lukashenko said relations between Belarus and Indonesia had become increasingly close in recent years, with progress made across a range of sectors. He added that some areas of cooperation had already produced results, while others still offered considerable potential.

He noted that bilateral ties had continued to expand since diplomatic relations were established in 1993, based on mutual respect and support.

The Belarusian president also thanked Prabowo for inviting him on a state visit to Indonesia. He said the visit had left a strong impression on both him and the Belarusian delegation.

Lukashenko recalled his previous visit to Indonesia in 2013 and said the country had undergone rapid development since then, highlighting its strong economic prospects.

He also said Prabowo's earlier visit to Belarus had laid an important foundation for advancing bilateral cooperation. Lukashenko acknowledged the work being carried out under Prabowo's leadership and described the talks in Jakarta as constructive and friendly.

He said Belarus was ready to deepen cooperation with Indonesia, particularly through economic and trade projects, as well as humanitarian, social and cultural initiatives.
