Kuwait's Jazeera Airways will relocate operations to Qaisumah Airport (AQI)  in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province following the temporary shutdown of Kuwaiti airspace, Emerging Travel reported on March 9 citing the company.

The carrier announced the move via social media after receiving approvals from both Kuwaiti and Saudi authorities due to airstrikes on Kuwait's main air terminal from an Iranian drone.

Jazeera Airways is operating under major disruption this week, with Kuwait airspace closed and most traffic temporarily shifted to Saudi Arabia’s Al Qaisumah rather than Kuwait International (KWI).

Chief Executive Barathan Pasupathi told the Kuwait News Agency the move prioritises travel for stranded Kuwaiti nationals and residents, with Kuwait International Airport remaining suspended due to regional tensions.

Departing passengers from Kuwait are being told to travel by road to Al Qaisumah; arrivals into AQI then continue by road into Kuwait, with a Saudi visa required where applicable.

Arrivals into the region will continue by road back into Kuwait from Qaisumah.

Pasupathi said the airline was in discussions with bus operators to provide transport options for passengers unable to drive themselves, with tickets to be booked separately.

He thanked both governments for their swift coordination in enabling the arrangement.

Jazeera said flight schedules, booking details and further logistical arrangements would be communicated through official channels as the situation develops.
