Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the Iranian issue during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office.

The call comes hours after US President Donald Trump met in northern Scotland with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who said that Iran had been sending out "nasty signals." In that meeting, Trump said, "They've been sending very bad signals, very nasty signals. And they shouldn't be doing that. ...We wiped out their nuclear possibilities. They can start again. If they do, we'll wipe it out faster than you can wave your finger at it," Trump said

"The conversation between the two leaders concerned the Iranian issue," the Kremlin said on July 28, TASS reported.

The Russian press service said Putin noted Moscow's readiness to participate in the search for a negotiated solution to the issue of the Iranian nuclear programme during the telephone conversation with Netanyahu.

Russia is the only foreign country to have an active role in Iran’s nuclear industry, with its engineers based at Iran’s only nuclear power station in Bushehr, in the south of the country.

The discussion comes amid heightened tensions over Iran's nuclear activities following recent US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the nuclear issue.

Russian reports did not mention the ongoing efforts by France and Saudi Arabia to push for a two-state solution in the UN in New York earlier on July 28.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump warned he would order fresh American attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities should Tehran attempt to restart sites that the United States bombed last month.

Trump issued the threat whilst holding talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland on July 28, Reuters reported.
