Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Lahore to begin a two-day official visit to Pakistan, with the Iranian leader heading a high-level delegation of political and economic officials, Iranian news agencies reported on August 2.

Pezeshkian landed at Lahore airport and was welcomed by Pakistani officials as he commenced the first phase of his official visit to the historic city in the historical Punjab province, ANA and Tasnim reported on August 2.

The Iranian President departed Tehran earlier in the morning, accompanied by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, leading a delegation of senior political and economic officials for the official visit as ties between the two neighbours continue to warm following the so-called 12-day war with Israel.

During his time in Lahore, Pezeshkian is scheduled to visit the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal to pay respects to the renowned poet and intellectual of the Islamic world before travelling to Islamabad, Pakistan's capital.

On the second day of his visit, the Iranian President will attend an official reception ceremony and hold meetings with Pakistan's Prime Minister, President, and heads of both the National Assembly and Senate.

The itinerary also includes meetings with economic activists and Iranian expatriates living in Pakistan, which are standard components of Iranian presidential foreign visits.

Pakistan represents an important regional partner for Iran, with both countries sharing cultural, religious, and historical connections alongside common interests in regional stability and economic development.
