Bahraini investment firm Investcorp has launched a formal AI investment methodology spanning its private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and credit strategies.

According to a company press release seen by IntelliNews, this move positions the alternative asset manager to capitalise on what it describes as one of the most consequential structural shifts in the global economy.

"AI is not a standalone strategy, but rather a powerful tool we rely on to evaluate opportunities, manage risk, and enhance performance," Rishi Kapoor, Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Officer, said in the press statement.

The framework, further outlined in a report released by the firm, integrates AI across four stages of the investment cycle: opportunity identification, due diligence, portfolio management, and value creation. Investcorp manages approximately $52bn in assets under management across its global platforms, giving the methodology significant operational reach across a portfolio that spans North America, Europe, the Gulf, and Asia.

The firm identified several high-impact use cases underpinning the framework, including AI-accelerated research and due diligence, enhanced investment committee efficiency, real-time portfolio performance monitoring, and the deployment of AI-powered data analytics tools across portfolio companies.

The report emphasised disciplined application over broad adoption, reflecting concern that indiscriminate AI integration could distort risk evaluation rather than improve it.

Executive Chairman Mohammed Alardhi framed the move in structural terms, describing AI as redefining how value is created across private markets globally.

The launch follows a broader institutional shift among alternative asset managers toward formalised AI governance, with firms including Blackstone and Apollo having disclosed AI integration roadmaps in recent quarters. For Investcorp, the framework represents an effort to codify an approach already underway across its investment operations rather than signal a strategic pivot.
