Rafidain Bank has denied reports that Mastercard and Visa payment card services have been suspended, Al-Sumaria News reported on April 21.
"The bank denies what is being circulated regarding the suspension of payment card operations," Rafidain Bank stated in a press release.
The bank confirmed that "Mastercard and Visa cards issued by the bank are working normally both inside and outside Iraq, and no decision has been issued by Mastercard or relevant authorities regarding their suspension".
Rafidain Bank urged citizens "not to pay attention to rumours and to rely on news from official sources".
The statement comes amid circulating reports on social media claiming that international payment card services had been suspended in the country.
