Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has concluded a state visit to France, in the process reinforcing the deepening strategic partnership between Jakarta and Paris, Indonesia Business Post reports.

A key highlight of the visit was President Prabowo’s role as guest of honour at France’s Bastille Day Military Parade on July 14. Indonesia contributed a joint contingent of 509 personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri), who marched alongside French military and police forces along the Champs-Élysées. Their participation was warmly welcomed by both the French government and public. “Indonesia’s presence in the parade symbolises the strengthening of strategic defence ties between the two countries,” the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

Following the parade, President Prabowo joined President Macron for a private dinner at the Élysée Palace, where the two leaders held discussions on bilateral, regional, and multilateral matters. Talks focused on cooperation in defence, trade, and culture.

On July 15, the Indonesia–France Business Breakfast Dialogue brought together government and business leaders to advance trade and investment cooperation aligned with both countries' national priorities. The same day also saw the inaugural Indonesia–France Strategic Cultural Dialogue, involving senior cultural and creative economy officials from both nations. The forum reflected a shared ambition to expand ties in arts, heritage, and creative industries.

President Prabowo’s visit marked an important step in commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France. It also built momentum for the Joint Declaration Toward 2050: A Century of Diplomatic Relations, signed in Jakarta on May 28, 2025.

“This visit reaffirms both countries' commitment to deepening their strategic partnership for the decades ahead,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
