Israel has been placed on its highest level of alert amid growing expectations of possible US military action against Iran, Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 reported on August 1.
The report signals a potential renewal of direct military pressure on Tehran despite the ceasefire that ended the war on June 18, and comes as US and Iranian forces remain locked in confrontation over the Strait of Hormuz.
Israeli forces were placed on heightened readiness during earlier phases of the conflict.
Senior Israeli political and security officials held a series of consultations over the weekend, the broadcaster said.
US President Donald Trump had not made a final decision on the scope of any strike, or on whether Israel would take part in a first phase, an Israeli official said. The official said Trump believed negotiations were wasting time and was angry and frustrated.
Israeli officials believed that limited, targeted strikes on key Iranian facilities could have a significant effect on Iran and on public opinion in the country, according to the report.
