Think EKKO partners with Indofast Energy for India-wide EV retrofitting

By bne IntelliNews August 1, 2025

US-headed EV startup Think EKKO has announced a pan-India partnership with Indofast Energy to provide retrofitting solutions compatible with advanced battery swap technology for electric vehicles, the company said on July 31.

The collaboration aims to empower original equipment manufacturers, fleet operators, and key stakeholders by enabling retrofitting solutions that work with Indofast's battery swap technology across India.

The partnership focuses on building a scalable ecosystem for sustainable electric vehicle adoption by transitioning existing vehicles into efficient swappable EVs through training, support, and real-world solutions.

Think EKKO described the initiative as advancing clean mobility whilst creating a circular approach to electric vehicle adoption throughout the Indian market.

The companies plan to roll out comprehensive training programmes and support systems to facilitate the conversion of conventional vehicles to electric vehicles equipped with battery swapping capabilities.

The partnership targets fleet operators and manufacturers seeking to electrify their operations through retrofitting existing vehicles rather than complete fleet replacement.

CEO, Al Vaks said on social media “This collaboration is aimed at empowering our OEMs, fleet operator partners, and key stakeholders by enabling retrofitting solutions,”

Battery swapping technology allows electric vehicle users to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones at designated stations, addressing range anxiety and charging time concerns.

The collaboration represents Think EKKO's expansion into the growing Indian electric vehicle market, which has seen increased government support and private investment in recent years.
