Unemployment in Slovakia stayed at 3.71% in May, the same as in the previous month (chart). The April level was the lowest on record since 1993. Year on year, it dropped by 0.07 percentage points.
The country’s Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, Erik Tomáš, highlighted that his resort is implementing “projects to financially support young people in obtaining first work experience, additional education and in starting their own businesses.”
The number of university graduates registered as job applicants increased by 1,770 month on month to 2,518 in May.
The overall number of job applicants was 161,053, which is a drop of 284 persons compared to April, despite the influx of university graduates. The development did not get reflected in the overall 3.71%.
The number of job vacancies amounted to 105,742, with 46,789 located in the capital Bratislava region, while the northeast Prešov region registered the lowest number of vacancies – 3,187.
The number of vacancies suitable for graduates was 46,214.
