The death toll from a Russian combined attack on Kyiv has risen to eight people with 88 injured, the head of Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko announced on July 31.

Tkachenko initially reported seven fatalities including a six-year-old boy, with five deaths in Svyatoshinsky district and two in Solomiansky district, Ukrinform reported on July 31.

The official later updated the toll on Telegram after a body was recovered from the rubble of a building entrance destroyed by a Russian missile in Svyatoshinsky district, where six people died from the strike on that building alone.

Forty-six people required hospitalisation following the attack, with many victims suffering multiple injuries, cuts, and shrapnel wounds, according to Tkachenko, who noted that all medical treatment costs would be covered by the city budget.

The consequences of the Russian attack affected 30 locations and damaged 100 buildings, with Solomiansky district suffering the heaviest impact.

Tkachenko said that by the end of the day it would be determined how many people require evacuation, though it was already clear that more than a dozen residents would need to be relocated.

The combined Russian attack on July 31 targeted multiple areas of the Ukrainian capital, causing widespread damage to residential and civilian infrastructure.

Emergency services continue rescue operations at affected sites whilst authorities assess the full extent of damage from the latest Russian bombardment of Kyiv.
