Cell phone operator Telefonica O2 Slovakia announced revenues of EUR 30.1mn for Q3, posting a 59% y/y increase. The cumulative revenues since the beginning of the year also expanded significantly by 54.1% y/y to EUR 78.9mn. John McGuigan, CEO of Telefnica O2 Slovakia, commented that the results reflected the expansion of the 3G network of the company and the customer base. As of end-Sep, Telefonica had 781,000 active customers, a 69% y/y increase. Both postpaid and prepaid services registered a growth by 82.6% y/y to 287,000 and by 61.8% y/y to 495,000, respectively. For the Jan-Sep period, the customer base expanded by 228,100 clients. The network of Telefonica covered 94.8% of the Slovak population as of end-Sep. Hence, nearly 89% of the calls were performed in its own network, or a 4 pps y/y growth. Telefonica O2 Slovakia is the smallest of the three mobile operators in Slovakia. |
