Pyotr Karimov, the Moscow-based son of late Uzbek president Islam Karimov, has filed a civil lawsuit against his stepmother and Uzbekistan's former first lady, Tatyana Karimova, over unspecified inheritance issues, RFE/RL’s Uzbek Service reported on June 13.

The media outlet said Tashkent's Yakassaroy district court set out a list of hearings of civil lawsuits scheduled for June 26 that included the case of Pyotr Karimov Versus Tatyana Karimova.

Pyotr Karimov, 54, was born during Islam Karimov's first marriage to Natalya Kuchma. Tatyana Karimova, Islam Karimov's second wife, served as Uzbekistan's first lady from the nation's independence in 1991 until her husband’s death in 2016.

Previous local reports have described how Pyotr Karimov, who graduated from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy in 1988, in the past worked for some time in banking and finance and at the representative office of national airline Uzbekistan Airlines in Moscow.
