Kazakhstan exports 4.4mn tonnes of grain in current marketing year.

Kazakhstan exported 4.4mn tonnes of grain between Jul 1 and Feb 10, deputy agriculture minister Muslim Umiryayev has informed. This means that Kazakhstan is among top 7 exporters of grain in the world. In the same period of previous year, the country sent abroad 6.5mn tonnes of grain. Umiryayev also confirmed the previous forecast of 7-8mn tonnes of grain to be exported this marketing year. Kazakhstan harvested 12.9mn tonnes of grain in clean weight last year, down from 27mn tonnes in 2011. The main reason for poor harvest result was drought.
